I told me so

Yeah, yeah, I'm not listening...so its been several months since I last posted, and I never did end up getting that Da Noi review put up, and I still have several draft posts still waiting to be published..whatever, I'm not listening...

OK, thats out of the way...anyway, I'm not even going to start deluding myself that I'm going to catch up on posting for the last few months. Its much easier for all involved if i just start anew, and maybe then I might actually have some chance of posting regularly. Who knows, I may even get a chance to post things *gasp* as they happen! as opposed to several months after the fact.

So the big news, obviously, has been the move. After several months of half-heartedly looking, everything got crammed into about 3 weeks at the start of January- everything from finding a place, confirming job dates, finding removalists, packing up our entire lives into boxes, moving to Melbourne, unpacking, and starting work was completed between the 12 January and the 5th February. But thankfully, that hell is now over, and we're taking our time settling into our new life in Mebourne- the final result being the funky shiny apartment you can now see on your screens. The last few weeks have been a bit hectic with work and such, so we haven't had too much time to get out and about, but we're doing our best. We're trying to make a habit of going out for dinner at least once a week, to get to know all the local haunts, but theres just so many to choose from. I swear it seems like there's more restaurants, cafes and pubs just on Acland, Fitzroy and Barkly Sts, than there was in all of Civic, and that doesn't even take into consideration the CBD, South Yarra, Fitzroy, and all the other amazing places we're yet to discover. Well, its a tough job, but someone has to do it :)

In other news, work is going well- the store is doing OK, the partners seem really nice and friendly, but theres still a bit of work to do to make sure its functioning as well as it can. Fingers crossed, that I can get it all done in the next few months, because a little birdy has told me that I may not be in store for too much longer. Looks as though i'm finally going to end up in the L&D position I've been after in May. I've been warned that its going to be a mad-dash sprint over the next few months to get everything done (keeping my store running, increasing sales and profitability, developing my assistant manager, training a new manager from scratch to take over from me, and learning all about my new position in 3 months!) but it will be worth it in the end...especially when that glorious day comes when I never have to serve a customer again, and never have to open at 6am and close at midnight again. Oh happy day!
Speaking of things I won't miss when I'm out of store...stocktake. Alas, being the last Sunday of the month, its time for me to head to work and count stuff until midnight. Have fun...but I promise (I really, really mean it this time) that I'll post again soon
